Aurora Polaris

The Inspiration: Across cultures and centuries, people have looked to the same shimmering sky and given it a thousand names. Aurora Polaris draws from the mythology of the northern lights — that ancient, electric curtain of colour that has captivated storytellers from the Norse to the Inuit, the Finns to the Sámi. This colourway is a tribute to all of them: the wonder, the reverence, and the magic of light dancing at the edge of the world.

The Palette: A bold, dramatic fade that opens in vivid hot pink, deepens into rich dark purple, softens through lilac and violet, then cools into midnight blue before fading to near-black — like the sky just after the lights go out.

The Specs:

First photo is a 150g cake on Fingering. Second is a knitted gradient sample (27g / 100 yards — not for sale, shown so you can see how the fade looks knitted up). Third shows the gradient sample alongside the 150g cake. Fourth is the inspiration photo.

Sock sets are wound together and dyed in the same dye pan for the best possible match. Each gradient fade is dyed individually — I strive for consistency, but hand-dyed means every skein is its own piece of art.
